There are two spots at the Green Shed where they display bikes. The largest of which is located out the back and it’s where you’ll find the ordinary stuff (mainly), the bikes they don’t think have much value. then there’s the other spot, just inside the door. Here they place the stuff they think has value. The latter is where I found this little beauty.
There were two I was interested in intitially, however upon inquiring of the price, I was told $50 – each. That was out of my budget so only one could come home with me. I ummed and ahhed for a bit and decided on the Apollo.
It’s pretty rough around the edges and it’s obvious someone else has attempted to, well, I’m not sure what they were trying to do actually. It’s been resprayed but no other serious work has been done to care for it.
All of the comonents are classice fittings – Dia Comp brakes, Shimano Altus deraileurs, Shimano sprokets, it’s all there.
There’s a lot of work needing to be done and as such, it’s going to be low on the list at this stage.
Perhaps it’s the simplicity of these old bikes, or the memories of my childhood envoked by their presence, harking back to a simpler time.
Or perhaps I’m just an old bike nut!
